Privacy policy

Last updated 2026-10-17

This policy explains what personal data CanSellThis collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect very little: if you just read the site, we don't collect anything that identifies you.

Who we are

CanSellThis (cansellthis.com) is run by Jazroy (7 Temasek Boulevard, #12-07, Suntec Tower One, Singapore 038987), and written by the CanSellThis editorial team. We are responsible for your personal data (the "controller" under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and the "organisation" under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012).

You can reach our Data Protection Officer at info@cansellthis.com.

What we collect and why

If you subscribe to the newsletter

  • What: your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it. Our email provider also records when and where you signed up (including IP address) as proof of consent, and whether our emails are opened or links are clicked.
  • Why: to send you the newsletter you asked for and to understand which updates are useful.
  • Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by emailing us.
  • How long: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only what's needed to make sure we don't email you again.

If you email us

  • What: your email address, name and whatever you write.
  • Why: to reply, and to act on correction reports.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering messages and keeping the site accurate.
  • How long: up to two years after the conversation ends, unless we need it longer to deal with a dispute.

When you visit the site

  • Cookie-free analytics (updated 17 October 2026). We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and PostHog to count visits and learn which pages are useful: which pages are read, roughly how long and how far down, which country a visit comes from, how people arrive (the referring site or campaign tag), device and browser type, searches typed into our tools search, and clicks on outbound links such as a tool's terms page or an affiliate link. Neither sets cookies or stores anything in your browser. PostHog runs in cookieless mode: it doesn't store your IP address, and to count unique visits it uses a one-way hash that changes every day, so we can't recognise you from one day to the next or build a profile of you. We only look at aggregate numbers. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we don't run any analytics at all. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding which parts of the site are useful. We keep PostHog event data for up to one year.
  • Hosting and security. The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request data to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
  • No advertising trackers. We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or social media embeds, and our fonts and images are served from our own domain.

Who processes your data for us

  • Kit (ConvertKit LLC, United States): newsletter sign-up and sending.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): hosting, security and cookieless analytics.
  • PostHog, Inc. (United States): cookieless product analytics, with IP addresses discarded.
  • Google Workspace, our email provider, which stores messages you send us.

These providers act on our instructions under their data processing terms. We don't sell your personal data, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it to profile you.

Transfers outside your country

Our providers may store data in the United States and other countries. Where personal data leaves Singapore, the UK or the EU, we rely on the safeguards in our providers' data processing terms (such as standard contractual clauses) so it gets a comparable standard of protection.

If you click an affiliate link, you leave our site. The company you visit may use its own cookies to record that you came from us, and its privacy policy applies there. We get commission reports from affiliate programmes; we don't receive your name or email from them.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we've used it, and give you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it, or stop using it;
  • withdraw your consent (for example, unsubscribe).

If you're in the EU or UK you also have the right to restrict or object to processing and to data portability. Email our Data Protection Officer at info@cansellthis.com and we'll reply within one month (or within 30 days for access requests under Singapore law).

You can also complain to a regulator: in Singapore, the Personal Data Protection Commission; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Security

We keep personal data to a minimum, use providers with strong security practices, and protect our accounts with strong passwords and two-factor authentication. If a breach is likely to harm you, we'll tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

Children

CanSellThis is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you think a child has subscribed, tell us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell newsletter subscribers.
