Amazon KDP

KDP requires you to disclose AI-generated text, images or translations when you publish or republish. Content an AI tool created counts as AI-generated even if you edited it heavily; AI-assisted work (you created it, AI helped edit or brainstorm) doesn't need disclosing.

Do you have to disclose AI?

Required for AI-generated text, images (including covers) and translations; not required for AI-assisted content.

The rules

  1. Disclose AI-generated content when you publish a new book or edit and republish one.
  2. AI-generated includes cover and interior images.
  3. If an AI tool created the content, it's AI-generated even after substantial edits.
  4. AI-assisted content (you wrote or drew it; AI edited, refined or brainstormed) doesn't need disclosure.
  5. You're responsible for making sure AI content follows the guidelines, including intellectual property rights.
